Over the weekend John guided 6 participants through challenge of making a clam shell box. We found the grain of the box board, did lots of accurate measuring and cutting. Glued the boxes together then did more measuring and cutting of cover materials. We spent some time practising cutting and gluing tricky corners. Finally covered the boxes and covers. The result was 6 beautiful looking Clam Shell boxes. The happy makers left thinking about the prints that they are going to make to compliment their box.

Kitchen Lithography was developed by Emilie Aizier in France. It is using the same principals of traditional Lithography but making it much simpler and using everyday materials that can be found in a kitchen. Using aluminium foil as the base for drawing onto, we will experiment with different drawing materials. We will use a press to print with as well as trying to print without a press. This method can sometimes be unpredictable but it is quick to achieve a print. Come along with a few images to try and print, working with A5 and A4 size paper.
